Fanfic personal sites index?
Oct. 31st, 2026 02:05 pmflamebyrdVery saddened by the AO3 outage and wishing all the volunteers strength and sustainable solutions for the future.
I've seen people posting their personal site links, and I love that! There was an ad I heard on a podcast a while back that was talking about the death of the small web and how important it is to have a place you can be you that isn't controlled by potential advertising value, and it really touched me. Of course, then it turned out to be a Squarespace ad, but what can you do?
I was wondering if anyone is creating an index of personal fanfic archives? I have discovered the Fanfiction Webring (also love this! Webrings!) which is sadly closed to new applications right now. So is there anything else?
FWIW my site is at random.fangirling.net (I feel like if you're following me you probably already know that? It's where the bookmarklets are, but I also archive all my fanfic there*.)
* Present tense is a bit misleading here given I haven't written anything in years. And also it seems like my most recent work isn't even up there? Oops. Will try to fix ASAP. Fixed! The missing work was my King's Avatar canon-divergence AU from 2021. I also fixed a bug with the tag merging feature in my static site generator.

Patrick Stewart, AO3, libraries
Oct. 29th, 2026 03:40 pmsageRIP Patrick Stewart, age 86. When I was in junior high and high school, I used to stay up to watch the 11pm airing of ST:TNG (and wish Picard was my dad, tbh. My dad is the opposite of Picard in every possible way). I am now clinging to Ian McKellan and Judi Dench with both hands.
As we all now know, the AO3 is expected to be down for 2-4 weeks. In the unlikely event that anyone wants to read any of my work that isn't crossposted to my DW (and it's been a long time since I did so), comment and I'll upload it. (Mercury retrograde, you really outdid yourself this time.) May my recent little annual donation to the OTW do some tangible good.
If your local library doesn't offer digital access and you're desperate for something to read, comment and I'll post a list of libraries that don't have residential requirements to use their services.
I hope you're all doing as well as can be. :hugs:

Archive of Our Own
Oct. 29th, 2026 01:50 pmsettiaiOof. AO3 went down unexpectedly earlier, and the latest update says that it could be 2-4 weeks before it's properly up and running again.
I'm not sure what went wrong as they haven't posted any updates yet with details, but clearly something major went wrong.

Yuletide
Oct. 28th, 2026 05:54 pmsettiaiOkay, the full list of requests for Yuletide is live, and I've gone through it to figure out what I could potentially write as a treat.
Right now, I have 223 prompts bookmarked, and there's another two dozen that could be added to the list if I manage to re-watch/re-read/etc. the fandom in time.
